Company name change FAQs

General name change questions

Why have you changed the name of the company?

We’ve been doing a lot of thinking about our impact on the world and the part we want to play in it. We’ve realised that while audio recording technology will always be a core part of our products, our key driver is helping students of all abilities become better learners. We believe the Glean platform, and the Glean brand, better supports our vision than Sonocent. So we’re making the commitment to become Glean.

What happens to the name Sonocent?

We will continue to refer to our legacy product as Sonocent Audio Notetaker but we will now be referring to the company as Glean and all our future products and packages will be part of the Glean platform and product suite. The Sonocent Audio Notetaker brand will remain only as long as Sonocent Audio Notetaker is maintained and supported.

Is this part of a take over or change in management?

No, we’re exactly the same people we’ve always been. There’s been no major change to management or ownership. We still have the same values and will still be extremely focused on our relationships with people, product quality and customer care. We just believe that our new name is more representative of our vision for the future and this is the next step in our journey.

Does this change affect our contracts or agreements?

At the moment, we haven’t changed our legal name so this will not trigger any changes to contracts or a need to go back to procurement. All our agreements will continue without interruption. If this changes, we will communicate well in advance and take all precautions to minimise any disruption.

The official registered name of the company remains as Sonocent, however we are now trading as Glean.

In North America and Canada:

Glean is a trading name of Sonocent, LLC. Sonocent, LLC is registered in Florida, USA and is a subsidiary of Sonocent Ltd (UK). Our registered address is 4600, 140th Avenue North, Suite 180, Clearwater, Florida, 33762

In the UK and the Rest of the World:

Glean is a trading name of Sonocent Ltd. Sonocent Ltd is registered in England and Wales with company number 06127874. Our registered office is 4 The Boulevard, Leeds Dock, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS10 1PZ,

Will I now be invoiced from Glean?

You will now receive invoices that are branded from Glean rather than Sonocent, so you may wish to flag this change to your finance department so they recognise the brand as an existing supplier. But all of our financial information remains the same so there should not be any need for changes.

Will all your contact details change?

We will all now be moving to glean.co email addresses so please look out for emails from Glean (it’s us)! But don’t worry if you send an email to a Sonocent email address by mistake - it will still get to the right person. If you’re in any doubt about the best way to contact us, please visit our website glean.co

Do I need to do anything?

This name change doesn’t require anything from you. We know it will take some time to get used to calling us by our new name, so all we’d ask is to keep an eye out for us under our new name in emails and at events.

The future of Sonocent Audio Notetaker

What does this mean for the future of Sonocent Audio Notetaker?

This change is a reflection of our long term commitment to Glean.

We will continue to maintain Sonocent Audio Notetaker until August 2026 and continue to offer support until 2027 to allow a phased transition period but there will be no further development for Sonocent Audio Notetaker. We are encouraging users to transition to our new software Glean over the next few years.

What does maintenance of the product involve?

Maintenance means that we will work to resolve critical bugs that affect the operation and usability of the software on supported operating systems. If an update to the operating system causes Sonocent Audio Notetaker to become unoperational, then we will work to resolve this within the software.

What is the difference between Sonocent Audio Notetaker and Glean?

Glean is our modern, flexible and intuitive software. It’s cloud-based and can be used across devices, with recordings accessible across devices. Learn more about Glean here or browse our frequently asked questions here: Glean FAQs.
