The future of Sonocent Audio Notetaker and Glean

What is the future of Sonocent Audio Notetaker?

We will continue to maintain Sonocent Audio Notetaker until August 2026 and continue to offer support until 2027 to allow a phased transition period but there will be no further development for Sonocent Audio Notetaker. We are encouraging users to transition to our new software Glean over the next few years.

What does maintenance of the product involve?

Maintenance means that we will work to resolve critical bugs that affect the operation and usability of the software on supported operating systems. If an update to the operating system causes Sonocent Audio Notetaker to become unoperational, then we will work to resolve this within the software.

What is the difference between Sonocent Audio Notetaker and Glean?

Glean is our more modern, flexible and intuitive software. It is cloud based and can be accessed from any device, and recordings are accessible between your devices. You can learn more about Glean here or look at the frequently asked questions here: Glean FAQs.

Should DSA Assessors still recommend Sonocent Audio Notetaker?

You can still recommend Sonocent Audio Notetaker if you feel it is the best solution for the student's needs. However, we do recommend that most students would be better served with Glean. We are running a series of events which demonstrate the differences between Glean and Sonocent Audio Notetaker which you can sign up to.

Which students would benefit more from Glean compared to AN?

We recommend Glean for most students, regardless of specific disabilities. The exception is if a student is already familiar  with Sonocent Audio Notetaker and is using features that do not exist yet in Glean. For more information we recommend attending one of our product comparison webinars or you can contact us to schedule a demo at dsa@glean.co

Is Glean on the DSA approved product list?

Yes, Glean has been approved by SFE and has been added to their DSA approved product list.

How do I recommend Glean for DSA eligible students?

Simply add ‘Glean for DSA’ or ‘Glean DSA Mobile’ to your quote requests or select them from the relevant quotation portal.

How will existing Sonocent Audio Notetaker users be supported?

Existing Sonocent Audio Notetaker customers will be able to continue using the product as long as they like and they will be supported until 2027.

Can Audio Notetaker projects be transferred to Glean?

Glean is an all new cloud-based solution and as such stores information differently than Sonocent Audio Notetaker. We are not planning to offer a migration of data from other note taking solutions such as Sonocent Audio Notetaker into Glean for institutional customers.

I’m a certified Sonocent Audio Notetaker trainer - do you offer that for Glean?

There is a Certified Trainer webinar with an accompanying Glean Quiz offered in the UK for those wishing to develop training skills for Glean.
