The Future of Sonocent Audio Notetaker

We will continue to maintain Sonocent Audio Notetaker until August 2026 and continue to offer support until 2027 to allow a phased transition period but there will be no further development for Sonocent Audio Notetaker. We are encouraging users to transition to our new software Glean over the next few years.

What does maintenance of the product involve? Maintenance means that we will work to resolve critical bugs that affect the operation and usability of the software on supported operating systems. If an update to the operating system causes Sonocent Audio Notetaker to become unoperational, then we will work to resolve this within the software.

DSA & UK FAQs

Can Sonocent Audio Notetaker still be recommended?

No, Sonocent Audio Notetaker has been retired; Needs Assessors are no longer able to recommend it to new users. We advise that users you would previously recommend Sonocent Audio Notetaker to would be better served with Glean.

Why have we decided to retire Sonocent Audio Notetaker?

Although Sonocent Audio Notetaker remains an effective note taking tool, Glean is a more modern, flexible and intuitive platform, with a wide range of useful features, and we believe that Glean now better meets the needs of individuals who require note taking support.

Do existing users need to upgrade to Glean?

No. As Sonocent Audio Notetaker will continue to be supported until 2027, existing users can continue to use the software and be supported until that date, and as such, upgrading to Glean is not needed.

Can Glean be recommended to existing users?

This will be at the discretion of the relevant funding body, and will depend on whether there is a suitable justification for approving an additional purchase of Glean.

Can Audio Notetaker projects be transferred to Glean?

No. Glean is a cloud-based solution and as such, stores information differently than Sonocent Audio Notetaker. Unfortunately, this means we are unable to offer the migration of data from other note taking solutions such as Sonocent Audio Notetaker into Glean.
