Recording Policy Banner

You can choose to show your users an in-app banner with a link to your Institutions Recording Policy.

Enabling the Banner

To switch on the banner and add the link to your Recording Policy:

Sign into the Glean Admin Portal app.glean.co/admin
Click the Account Icon in the top right
Click your Institution Name

Under 'Recording Policy URL' enter the link to your policy
Click to Save Changes

What does the user see?

When the user next accesses Glean they will see a banner appear at the top of Glean with the link to your recording policy.

Users can dismiss the banner.

FAQ's

Can I switch this off?

Yes. If you don't want the banner to show to users simply delete the URL you've entered. If no URL is present then the banner does not show to users.

How often is this shown to users?

The banner is shown until the user dismisses it. It will then only shown again if you update the link to the policy.

If you delete the policy URL, Save changes, and then add the same url again, then it will re-trigger the banner to show for all users.

How do we update the URL?

To update the URL go through the steps above and add the new link. The banner will be instantly updated to link to your new policy. And the banner will be shown to all users (even if they have previously dismissed it).

What happens if we update our policy?

Glean simply links out to your own policy page; so if you update your policy and the link stays the same, users will be taken to the same page and be able to view your updated policy.

Can you link to another document (eg PDF)?

The banner can only link to a URL; you can't upload a policy to Glean. You should speak with your IT team to get your document (eg PDF) uploaded to your website, and then you can link to that through Glean.

How can I make the banner appear for users who have previously dismissed it?

The banner will re-appear for all users if/when the URL is updated. The simplest way to get the banner to reappear is to delete the URL, save the changes, and then add the same URL back in.
