Which languages do you support?

Glean is an audio recorder at heart, so you can record audio in any language (even Klingon). And Glean's text boxes allow you to make your own notes in any language.

Our Transcription and Captions Tools allow you to pick which language is being spoken; we currently support over 30 languages (see below).

Glean's user interface is currently only available in English, but if you're using Chrome then you can use the inbuilt translation tool to convert the interface to a different language (see below).

Transcription / Captions

Info - These are not translation tools. They will only create a transcript of the language being spoken.

We currently support the following languages with both Transcription and Captions.

Bulgarian, Bahasa, Catalan, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hindi, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Malay, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Vietnamese

Correct as of December 2024

Info - If your audio is in multiple languages then the transcription will struggle; it's best to choose the main language being spoken.

Browser Translation

You can use Chrome's inbuilt translation tool to change the language of nearly all of your Glean interface; including the transcription, and Quiz (but not your own notes).

  1. Open Chrome
  2. Go to Glean (app.glean.co)
  3. Click the three dots in the top right of Chrome (not Glean)
  4. Select Translate
  5. In the translation dialog box click the three dots and select 'Choose another Language'
  6. Pick your language and click Done
